PTA Sponsored Programs

The arts add a measure of entertainment to our lives, and the arts and artists presented in the Arts-In-Education programs presented at our school go far beyond that. They enable our children to integrate what they learn about people, events, places, ideas and concepts into their own lives. The Arts programs promote personal growth and community understanding.

Reflections is a program of The National PTA whose purpose is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works. Begun in 1969, this cultural arts program is open to children in grades preschool - 12. The arts are an important part of every child’s education. And, just as important, the Reflections Program is a fun project that can involve students, parents, teachers, and the community.

2009-2010 Reflections Info

Parents As Reading Partners is a collaborative effort among parents, staff, and community to build a reading partnership between the home and the school. PARP programs encourage parents to read with their children for at least fifteen minutes per day.  In 1987 the New York State PTA assumed the helm of the Parents As Reading Partners (PARP) program begun by the late State Senator James Donovan, Chairman of the State Senate Education Committee. PARP is a program designed to foster the love of reading in children by asking parents to set aside fifteen minutes daily to read with their children.

Learning to read is the single most important activity in a child’s education.
